Tailored postvention support for Aboriginal people

Partnership established with Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT) to deliver postvention suicide support services

StandBy and AMSANT have developed a partnership to deliver and coordinate postvention suicide support services across regions covered by AMSANT members and associate members. This collaboration aims to create a culturally safe hybrid model for postvention support, specifically tailored for Aboriginal people bereaved or impacted by suicide.

Together, StandBy and AMSANT will adapt StandBy’s educational materials to ensure they are culturally appropriate for Aboriginal people bereaved or impacted by suicide. The project will be implemented in a staged approach, prioritising members in the most impacted regions across the Northern Territory. Over the next 12 months (2024-25), this partnership will be subject to an academic evaluation led by The Batchelor Institute.
